ex.girls started out as the solo project of Guðlaugur Hörðdal in 2011, but soon became a platform for him and his friends to make music. Gylfi Sigurðsson and Tatjana Dís Aldísar joined the project in 2017 and the trio have since then become a prominent fixture in the Icelandic music scene, known for their unique sound and ambitious live performances.
In 2020, the group caught the attention of the techno giant Bjarki, with their then unreleased track “Halda áfram“, later to be released on his label bbbbb records. Two years later, the same track was awarded electronic track of the year at the Icelandic Music Awards.
Genre-bending and nihilistic, the trio is constantly exploring new paths which makes their music exciting, unpredictable or as once described: “entirely their own“.
