Ezra Allen is a work in progress. Not quite a rapper but definitely not a singer, he spends most of his time googling genres to find where he fits. At the beginning of 2020, he wrapped up his three-part mixtape ‘Mutterings of a Deteriorating Degenerate.’ The project, which spanned three years, developed with his own abilities as a writer and musician. Allen stepped away from traditional boom-bap and started taking influence from neo-soul, funk and jazz. Part II of the mixtape, Metamorphosis was featured as New and Notable on Bandcamp and saw tracks played across community radio and Triple J. Allen is known for his introspective lyricism that explores mental health, masculinity and maturity. He has committed to working on newer sounds, sharper delivery and truly finding his unique voice.
