Southern Ontario's Falling Edge is a progressive rock band celebrating the release of their 4th album, Final Dissent (Into Madness?), an eclectic and sometimes genre bending mix that runs the gamut from symphonic prog to prog metal with some jazz influences thrown in for good measure. The album wraps up with the (over) 27 minute long (!?!?) epic title track.
Originally a quartet, the band had its beginnings in 2004, but since then Falling Edge has splintered and reformed several times, with its current incarnation consisting of only 2 people; founding member and principal songwriter Chris Rupert on guitars, vocals, keyboards, and bass, and Rob Kovar on drums and vocals.
This latest album took an unusually long time to record, as both Chris and Rob suffered a great deal of personal tragedy during the course of its creation. These things coupled with the added difficulties of trying to get anything done during a global pandemic caused the release of the album to be delayed much longer than either of them would have liked, but both are glad to have been blessed with the opportunity to see it through to its completion.
