False Gharial started in Singapore in 2015, with the firm intention to bring some madness in a very polished society.
Starting out as a cover band with interpretations of classics from Metallica, Megadeth, Paradise Lost and Pantera, False Gharial began making waves in local scene’s gigs. Led by Hatem (Guitars, vocals) and Faisal (bass), the band wrote its first songs in a straight forward heavy metal style leading to recording of first demo “Birth”.
With some line up changes, arrived Aditya (drums) and Francesco (Guitars), and the band went back to composing. At this stage, False Gharial enjoys a wide variety of influences, to name a few: Grindcore scene (Dillinger Escape Plan, Nostromo), Death Metal (Psycroptic, Gojira), heavy-speed (Nevermore, Martyr) to the more recent math core and djent scene (Karnivool, Meshuggah). Influences outside metal play a great role, such as jazz funk and jazz rock (Snarky puppy, Headhunters , Alan Holdsworth, Mahavishnu Orchestra) and also classical Hindustani music. False Gharial recorded its new EP “Tragic Demise” at TNT Studio in Singapore, each new song has a very distinctive colour, bringing out a solid yet subtle mix of aggression and groove, melody and dissonance.
False Gharial is now ready to tour and showcase its vision of a chaotic world ruled by hypocrisy, spiraling down to its “Tragic Demise”
