False Graveyard
False Graveyard began in 2006 when high school classmates Mark Elnar, Raphael Janulgue, and Bill Peralta decided to continue making music beyond their punk roots. They soon recruited bassist Charles Godornes and drummer Maxcel Migallos Jr., both friends from school and church. All were students of the University of San Carlos - Cebu City when they played their first show at Zzubu Rockbar in Cebu in 2007 under Harakiri Mosh Productions’ “Sloppy First.”
From there, the band became a staple in the Cebu scene, eventually touring outside the city, including a memorable stop in Maasin, Southern Leyte, Olongapo and Ortigas in Pasig City. They recorded two demos at Backyard Studios before releasing their debut album In the Realm of Turgid in 2008, which earned them airplay on Smash FM and other regional stations. Between 2008–2012, False Graveyard toured the Philippine islands, steadily growing a loyal following.
The band also faced hardships. In 2018, their vocalist moved to Canada, and in 2021 they lost guitarist Pedro Diaz IV. After a long hiatus, False Graveyard is regrouping to honor their past, celebrate their legacy, and finally complete the unreleased tracks from their peak years.
