Fancy

So there’s Lenny on guitary things, Donna on vocals and increasingly on percussy things, and John on vibraphone, his dad’s Pianica (melodica) from the 1970s and percussy things. Songs by John, Donna, and lately Lenny too.
Our sound is fun and eclectic, with a grungy edge and a laid-back groovy edge.
Donna’s voice is described as smoky and sultry. She’s keen to add a bit of gristle at times too.
Lenny’s background in jazz means he can play pretty well anything. He has two main guitars, his bluesy heavier sounding blue guitar, and his cleaner semi-acoustic sunburst (not to self, find out brandnames of Lenny’s guitars). He also plays bass, bass uke, mandolin and parlour guitar. And is in charge of the kick.
John is a slow study on all his instruments. He can find a pretty sound, or squeeze out an accordion-like sound on the pianica.
They all do backing vocals. They don’t play much but when they do they are very entertaining. Negotiations usually go something like: I’m thinking of seeing if the Settlers Arms wants us on [date]. I might be sailing that weekend. We can’t, Ziz is doing the HSC. Oh. Well, Amorelle has asked us to open her new coffee shop refurbishment. Oh, that’ll be fun! Yeah... How much is she paying? Oh, I’ll have to ask, how much should I say? What was the date again, aren’t we visiting your sister?
