Farman Purnama is an Indonesian tenor. His profession as a singer initiated in 1993 when he won the first prize in a national competition for classical singing called Bintang Radio dan Televisi. He took formal education in Architecture at Bandung Institute of Technology then studied classical vocal performing art at the Utrecht Conservatory the Netherlands until the master degree.
Since 1999 he has often appeared as a soloist for Batavia Madrigal Singers and also Jakarta Concert Orchestra under direction of Mr. Avip Priatna, amongst so many are as Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, as Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni, as Samson in Samson et Dalila by Saint-Saëns, as Jose in Carmen by Bizet, as Sangkuriang in the musical drama Sang Kuriang by Dian HP.
In 2018 he played the main male character, Habibie (the 3rd president of the Republic of Indonesia), in an Indonesian opera called Ainun by Purwatjaraka.
His debut on international production was as Ferrando in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte produced by Dutch National Opera Academy with Residentie Orchestra Netherlands (2014).
In the pop music industry he collaborated with Andi Rianto in 2 albums titled Interlude dari Hati and Karena Cinta Kita Ada.
In 2017, he released his solo album entitled “Farman”, all songs are his compositions.
To celebrate 30 years of his profession, he released a digital album containing 17 Indonesian art songs (2023).
