Fastplants is a Chicago area punk/skate rock band from Waukegan, Illinois, formed in 2013. The band has been actively recording and touring since 2015, delivering high-energy music rooted in skate culture. The current lineup consists of Matt Anzelone (guitar/vocals), Abe Linders (guitar/vocals), Steve Sackett (bass), and Marc Harman (drums).
In their early years, Fastplants self-released EP01 (2014) and EP02 (2015) under Moriarty Records. Their momentum grew with consistent touring across the Midwest, leading to a 2017 split LP with Daniel Wax Off and the full-length album Spread the Stoke, released on Beer City Records. They have since toured extensively, playing in the U.S. West, South, and East Coast.
Fastplants has shared the stage with notable punk acts such as Agent Orange, The Supersuckers, Zeke, Murphy’s Law, Teenage Bottlerocket, and McRad. In 2019, they supported D.R.I. on their Southwest U.S. tour.
In 2020, the band honored late skateboarder Jeff Grosso with a 7-inch release featuring re-recorded versions of Grosso and Super Stoked, released by Not Like You Records. Despite pandemic challenges, they continued practicing, performing as conditions allowed, and working on new material. In 2023, they planned a Gulf Coast U.S. tour and remain active in the skate punk scene.
