February Montaine was a DIY artist from the Midlands, England who was active between the period of 1985 and 1991.
The music that was left behind by February varies from well archived stems to scraps of ideas recorded straight to tape. In the last year Sam Potter (<a href="spotify:artist:5ZBQea34QfBgEDkcGEKK2b" data-name="Late of the Pier">Late of the Pier</a>) has been carefully digitising these, and when possible mixing these most cherished possessions he left behind. His work paints the picture of a reclusive and sensitive artist using music as a lens to observe and interact with the world around him. The music is functional, using a broad palette of styles to enhance and change his moods.
In the artifacts he left behind you can see a man grasping with what it is to be human in a time of rapid change, a search for meaning through sound and an almost ancient appreciation of art as magic.
