Fig Tape is the sonic alias of Elias Melkersen, whose work explores the quiet drama of modern life through warped textures, surreal lyrics, and emotionally rich songwriting. Born and raised in Oslo, Norway, and later based in Berlin, he was introduced to music at an early age. He began crafting his first songs while still in elementary school, driven by a fascination with electronic music and unconventional sounds. Seamlessly blending lo-fi indie rock, ambient pop, and experimental production, Fig Tape creates music that’s deeply introspective yet strangely universal.
His sound lives in the tension between analog warmth and digital noise—where vulnerability, distortion, and beauty coexist. His visuals, often built around decaying natural elements, 90s-style grunge aesthetics, and dreamlike imagery, reinforce a world that feels both familiar and otherworldly.
