FIN is the musical alias of Canadian-born, New York-based sculptor Fin Simonetti. Roping elements of experimental electronic production into ornate pop assemblages, Cleats is her second album released on Hausu Mountain, following Ice Pix. FIN populates her self-produced music with layers of lush synths, bludgeoning percussion, and found sound that cohere into a dense backdrop for her enigmatic presence at the heart of her compositions. Using her background as an artist as a filter, she hijacks signifiers from both her own sculptures and art history to infuse her songs with tactile imagery. FIN's omnivorous production sensibilities offer us a vision of contemporary gonzo pop, shaped by an idiosyncratic palette of electronic tones that integrate genres both inside and outside of the pop tradition.
