Rock N' Roll Is Dead.
Firebird are an English pop/alternative rock band formed in 2024. The lineup brings together five musicians: Harvey Burnell (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano), Alex Galpin (lead guitar), Kian Graham (bass), Ed Davey (keys, saxophone), and Anna Guillain (drums).
The band’s name was inspired by frontman Harvey Burnell’s father’s former air squadron, discovered in an old notebook and remembered as “The Firebird.”
Although scattered across the UK, the members share a history that traces back to high school music lessons between Guillain, Galpin and Davey. What began as casual collaborations solidified when Burnell traveled hours to Birmingham to meet Galpin, a fellow musician he connected with online. Soon after, Galpin introduced Davey, Guillain and Graham, and the group officially came together in November 2024.
Firebird started rehearsing in Digbeth, Birmingham, at a local studio before progressing to high-end recording spaces in Manchester. While each member is now based at universities in Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, and Cambridge, the band continues to carve out time for focused, high-energy rehearsals that fuel their growing catalogue of songs.
Musically, Firebird channel the urgency of pop/rock while weaving in expansive, genre-fluid elements. Their sound is both ambitious and raw, pairing anthemic guitars with reflective lyricism and a youthful intensity that defines their creative vision.
