Fires of Denmark is the ever evolving project of Rochester, MN artist Michael A. Terrill, a musician who’s spent over a decade crafting sounds that blur the lines between dream and reality. From the lo-fi experimentation of 2h0017 (2017), the cinematic synth-pop of With Love (2018), and the hypnotic rhythms of Relativity (2021), to the raw, acoustic intimacy of their upcoming album ‘Somedays I’m a Forest’ (2025), Terrill’s music digs into the quiet ache of love, loss, and the search for something true in a broken world.
‘Somedays I’m a Forest’ took shape while spending time off the grid at an Amish farmhouse, a retreat born from political disillusionment, health issues and family struggles. It’s a stripped-down journey featuring acoustic reimagined versions of older Fires of Denmark songs alongside new tracks like “The Zoo,” a haunting reflection on societal confinement, “Here and Now,” a tender escape amidst chaos, and “Lies For Power and Profit,” a searing critique of systemic corruption. Drawing from early Bob Dylan, Nick Drake , Iron & Wine , and Bright Eyes , Fires of Denmark offers a space to feel deeply and wander quietly.
