First Band On Mars tells the story of a ramshackle expedition to explore fringes of musical space.
“It’s more than a band - it’s a concept of live music composition ” says the leader of the astro band, Otar Taktakishvili. “We don’t bother writing or rehearsing - the whole point is to push off and float into open space musically”
Consisting of an ever changing cast of musical astronauts based in Connecticut, this ragtag bunch take improv to heart, recording music as its being written live with no rehearsal or preparation.
Blending Surf and East Coast punk in a Lo-fi 60s psychedelic garage rock sound, FBoM flourishes in uncertainty of dissonant search for finite glory as well as grungy rhythms capable of pulling a smile out of a boulder.
