Flor de Lis were born in 2008, giving life to a musical project with roots in Portuguese folk music that incorporates world music, embracing popular influences from other geographies, such as Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.

In 2009 they represented Portugal in the 2009 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, in Moscow, with the song "Todas as Ruas do Amor" The album Signo Solar was released in April 2010 and featured the song Lisboa Tropical. The concept of the album was the fusion between world music and Portuguese folklore, the main influence on the compositions. The following year a limited edition with extra tracks was released.

Flor de Lis edited the single "Cinema Paraíso" in 2013, and the single "Dona Rosa" in 2014. In the period that followed the group focused on live performances.New songs have been release in 2020, with a renewed aesthetic and an evolution in the sound where the group's sonic maturity is clear. The core band has practically kept the same formation: Daniela Varela (vocals), José Camacho (guitars), Ana Sofia Campeã (accordion), Vasco Corisco (bass) and Pedro Marques (percussion), as well as a number of guest musicians.
