When Violet Aurora’s frontwoman Kath Choa embarked upon a side passion project in mid-2021, it felt like a long-time coming.
Being part of different bands since her teenage years, music has always been her outlet. This time, she steps out of her comfort zone and takes sole control of the project.
She calls the project Flurry Rush, after Link’s skill in Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a game she poured many hours into during the pandemic.
Along with her trusty guitars, midi keyboard and shiny new bass, she went on to create her debut EP.
Her debut self-produced EP, titled “Distant Lights,” weaves together some of her biggest pop influences, from chamber pop to bedroom indie to dream pop. Generous with lyrical hooks and melodic riffs, the collection of songs showcases the honesty, simplicity, and intricacies we celebrate in pop music.
