Detroit rapper Fmb Dz first gained major attention in 2017 with the release of his first mixtape I Ain't Gonna Lie. Just 23 at the time of its release, the rapper had been active in underground circles in Detroit but had not released much music. The project was well-received globally and work began on a follow up mixtape as well as collaborate with other artists, as on the Joseph McFashion track "Raw." That follow-up mixtape, Washington DZ, was completed in the summer of 2017, but before its August release, the rapper was shot; it wasn't fatal, however, and Dz made a quick recovery. In December of 2017 he issued third mixtape, The Gift. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
