Fog Lamp began as a duo in the San Francisco Bay Area during the first Covid vaccine rollout. They would go demo songs after discussing their direction at the taco truck. After lockdown had ceased they went to the local watering hole. Aaron and Ryan were discussing their need for an additional personnel member and Leslie overheard. Leslie inserted himself into the conversation? Leslie then joined the band on synths. The band started listening to more synth punk as a group. Fog Lamp’s mechanical sound is a result of all these steps. Rachelle joined on drums in 2024.
