Folk Medicine

Folk Medicine is a group of dads, friends, and neighbors that formed under the spotlight of the Anchorage Folk Festival in 2018. Love, grace, and harmony beam out as explicit themes, but, more implicitly, the importance of community, togetherness, and friendship shine brightly on these songs. Kindness, empathy, compassion, and steadfastness are illuminated moreover.


Making a wholehearted effort to uplift listeners’ ears from every angle, Folk Medicine blends a hybrid of styles ranging from blues to jazz to bluegrass to rock to folk. Fluid percussion, strong lead/rhythm guitars, and folky banjo arpeggios support sincere and honest lyricism and vocal harmonies. Defining themselves, with levity, as a “folk fusion” band, Folk Medicine, strives to entertain the possibility of the possibility.

Insisting on full collaboration and inclusion in writing, rehearsing, and performing, the group hopes to always maintain a beginner’s mind and growth mindset as they evolve as humans, musicians, and friends. Creativity and genuine passion for music, notwithstanding, ever remain a lighthouse and guiding beacon for the songwriting process. Musical influences on the band are wide-ranging, and the group intentionally reaches to explore an array of styles and genres.
