<a href="spotify:artist:4G8iqQRYnUckP0KbxQBvwi" data-name="Fools Like Me">Fools Like Me</a> originates when Eric Coughanour decides to record a series of songs stemming from a breakup. The result was <a href="spotify:album:2hdgwsmoFWKvDRM64h4LHU" data-name="Vampires in My Head">Vampires in My Head</a>, an introspective album that probes the yearning of a broken heart in a constant state of melancholy. All tracks were recorded at Eric's house during November, 2015. The album is a co-production between Eric and Manuel Calderón ( <a href="spotify:artist:0Q0Bo8mfw9cEQiG7D9UF1d" data-name="Comanche Sound">Comanche Sound</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4QUnWR26plj0oHiQgRyhvk" data-name="The Chamanas">The Chamanas</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0sPz0BuaI7sSF0mzku6fZd" data-name="Estereomance">Estereomance</a>).
Acid Western influence
Eric: Not long ago, as I worked on the songs that became part of the second album "The Charmer" I realized that I insisted on a guitar style and sound that I could not figure out where it came from. As I came to re-encounter with one of my all-time favorite movies "Dead Man" by <a href="spotify:artist:6Ledh6HrjBKjVCfXQYi3xW" data-name="Jim Jarmush">Jim Jarmush</a> I instantly realized how much <a href="spotify:artist:6v8FB84lnmJs434UJf2Mrm" data-name="Neil Young">Neil Young</a>'s improvised-guitar soundtrack had a mark on me.
Dark echoed guitars (<a href="spotify:track:7mMRmSJ3Got35pX8DKBqMw" data-name="Vampires in My Head">Vampires in My Head</a>, <a href="spotify:track:0R4KbXQy68Pwidl4EIAinT" data-name="Beginning to End">Beginning to End</a>), theremin sounds ala Morricone's Spaghetti western's music (<a href="spotify:track:2AXbPN4kw9xxc5zVLbvLd4" data-name="Once Upon a Time">Once Upon a Time</a>), raw synth sounds (<a href="spotify:track:54SNDlza4XBmNjchseVfPX" data-name="Wither or Thrive">Wither or Thrive</a>) and trip hop laid-back tempos (<a href="spotify:track:0kSnHPNk33ksbKIq2d6Faj" data-name="Foreign Language">Foreign Language</a>) are some of the elements that define the sound of Fools Like Me.
Second album, The Charmer, released on October 18, 2019 pays tribute to 60s-70s psychedelic rock (<a href="spotify:album:1GzUxJ7M3cyqYgNbkrRUVS" data-name="I Still Belong to You">I Still Belong to You</a>, <a href="spotify:album:75rtfmicqso9mG6reDDQOS" data-name="The Charmer">The Charmer</a>) as well as to the Acid Western genre (<a href="spotify:album:1wEx3NGuRc3tYGv3veBZFg" data-name="No Safari">No Safari</a>).
