After meeting in Portland, OR in 2018, Lillian Christopher and Spen Oliver quickly bonded over whimsical dream pop and noisy guitar rock. It would only make sense that they would wind up working together on songs that pull from both simultaneously. But this wasn’t planned. The 2020 release of the <a href="spotify:artist:4ptJIIR10UVlGjN0VntFaK" data-name="Day Wave">Day Wave</a> produced track, Don’t Let It Go unofficially launched the project into a string of independent singles before an eventual EP release on the jangly Spirit Goth label.
With their upcoming production debut, “cloud study”, the duo is more connected than ever to each other and to their underground influences. By grounding elements of electronica, shoegaze, and dream pop in pop songwriting, the duo’s destination finally comes closer into view.
