Hiya I’m Foxxglove, I am 27 years old & I’m a singer/songwriter from Ferndale in the South Wales Valleys. I’ve always loved music, singing and wanted to make my own music and perform it from a young age. My biggest inspirations growing up were <a href="spotify:artist:0p4nmQO2msCgU4IF37Wi3j" data-name="Avril Lavigne">Avril Lavigne</a> & <a href="spotify:artist:5YGY8feqx7naU7z4HrwZM6" data-name="Miley Cyrus">Miley Cyrus</a>. I grew up listening to musical theatre from my mam and classics like <a href="spotify:artist:08GQAI4eElDnROBrJRGE0X" data-name="Fleetwood Mac">Fleetwood Mac</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0oSGxfWSnnOXhD2fKuz2Gy" data-name="David Bowie">David Bowie</a>, & <a href="spotify:artist:1aSxMhuvixZ8h9dK9jIDwL" data-name="Kate Bush">Kate Bush</a> from my dad. Other influences of mine are <a href="spotify:artist:26VFTg2z8YR0cCuwLzESi2" data-name="Halsey">Halsey</a> & <a href="spotify:artist:74XFHRwlV6OrjEM0A2NCMF" data-name="Paramore">Paramore</a>.
I make dark atmospheric pop music, I released my debut single ‘<a href="spotify:track:2X4CXKBoF5FfWHpLxIsowm" data-name="City">City</a>’ in March 2020 I originally started writing it in 2015 after I moved to Cardiff. It’s about my state of mind, how I felt both hopeful and lonely at the same time after moving from a small town in rural Wales.
I like to write my lyrics from a personal perspective, I write about things like toxic relationships, mental health, and self-preservation. I take inspiration from my life experiences, films & art to tell a story that I feel a lot of people can relate to. I work with artist & producer (James)<a href="spotify:artist:6N1x82cqtIMuzDeYIl0k6O" data-name="Minas">Minas</a> on my tracks. I love collaborating with other creatives, it’s inspiring & fun to bounce off each other whilst creating art. In February I featured on a welsh language track with Cait from the band <a href="spotify:artist:1Hpufj7XUZki9B0BYuPbdE" data-name="Mawpit">Mawpit</a> and artist & producer <a href="spotify:artist:5kvoKALZw6diggpBUHIfz4" data-name="Eädyth">Eädyth</a> called ‘<a href="spotify:track:60hUMvLL7bZO4yrUNmTuj8" data-name="Paradwys">Paradwys</a>’.
I have played Swn Festival, Focus Wales showcase, In It Together Festival, Rebel fest & supported <a href="spotify:artist:2tl280wIokrLjabzrSKTgU" data-name="Holding Absence">Holding Absence</a>.
