Franklin Mansion

Franklin Mansion is the solo endeavor of Christopher Matthewson, a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Donegal, Ireland, now based in Brighton, UK.

After years on the road as a session musician with artists like The National and City and Colour and Bess Atwell, Franklin Mansion became a home for the songs that had been quietly building for years. Scraps, sketches, and anecdotes finally given a place to reside. Over the past five years, Christopher has become a quiet fixture in Brighton’s independent music scene, playing, writing, collaborating, and producing for artists like Bess Atwell, Eve Owen, Chloe Foy, L.Lsn, Ochre, Alx Frncs and Almahata to name a few. He’s also one half of the band Bloody Tourist, and one half of Talk Show Host Records—the spiritual home for much of the music he’s involved in making.

Franklin Mansion is a fully self-recorded, self-produced project, influenced by the likes of Blake Mills, Villagers, Nick Hakim, and Tame Impala, the music drifts between lo-fi intimacy and textured indie psychedelia; sometimes layered and complex, sometimes simple and direct.
His debut album, Speak with Your Limbs, is out later this year.
