"Freek Wigbold, a Dutchman wearing the Italian moniker for 'strange' (Strano), does require some explanation. Brain-dancing, broken rave beats, drowned in melodies might do the trick. A producer of spine-tingling techno for over 10 years, Freek Strano's productions as well as his DJ-sets are both physical and emotive. Known for his evocative and fluent mixing of deeper, electronic music styles, Freek does something strangely magical with a room. Let’s say it’s best left experienced.
Venues include his own monthly clubnight at Simplon (Groningen) called ONGEHOORD, Club MIKZ (Berlin), Doornroosje (Nijmegen), Studio 80 (Amsterdam) among many, many others. Looking back are two former residencies at Paradigm (Groningen) and Pand 48 (Groningen).
His tracks and sets aim for the organic, finding it’s ground somewhere in the middle between f.e. Daniel Avery and Joy Orbison."
