Fred is one of the Butchulla Songmen, a language custodian, and a ground-breaking artist who works across genres, mediums and styles to bring a distinctly original voice to his performances and recordings.
Equally at home spitting staccato hip hop verse as he is singing in his traditional language, Fred is also a natural collaborator. Most recently hitting strides with his Cousin Birdz and their hit song Bagi-la-m Bargan (crafted with the producer Trials). Fred has also collaborated with Xavier Rudd, toured with Dead Prez, supported Public Enemy and crafted Queensland Australia’s first Aboriginal owned and run Hip Hop label, Impossible Odds Records. Yirinda, his collaboration with composer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Samuel James Pankhurst, blends the ancient beauty of the Butchulla language with the limitless kaleidoscopic options of improvisation and multi-track recording.
