Freddie Simpson, aged 14, began his musical journey at eight under the guidance of Robert Lewis. A former Deputy Head Chorister at St Thomas-on-The-Bourne in Farnham, he was a finalist in the televised BBC Young Chorister of the Year in 2023. His performance drew praise from the judges: Wynne Evans described his voice as “one that touches your heart,” Laura Wright noted “the control, quality, beauty and purity of his voice,” while Ken Burton highlighted his “spot-on intonation, perfect tuning and masterful performance.”
Freddie has since performed at Sir Karl Jenkins’ 80th Birthday Celebration Gala with Excelsis and the London Mozart Players, and with Jem Sharples and Paul Martin of Tenors Un Limited. His recording of O Holy Night with Vox Farnham Chamber Choir was featured on Classic FM in December 2024.
Alongside classical and choral music, Freddie enjoys exploring a wide range of genres, from classical crossover to modern popular songs. He loves discovering emotional connections across styles and bringing his own musicality to each performance.
His debut album, More Than Words, recorded between the ages of 11 and 13, reflects this breadth. It captures his treble years through a blend of classical, choral, and contemporary songs, and will be released on CD in November 2025.
