Paul Coltofeanu and David Knight are very good friends.
The two lived together in numerous flats in the south of England throughout their twenties. During this time David almost completed a novel - "a rollicking yarn filled with biplanes, ballyhoo and revolver-brandishing baddies" - while Paul wrote songs on his guitar and taught himself how to record them on GarageBand.
On Friday evenings the pair would convene in the living room, listen to albums in their entirety, and 'air drum' along to the music as both the consumption of red wine and the volume of the speakers slowly but surely increased. These evenings became known as "Album Club" and continue to this day - once a summer in Prague when David visits Paul, and every Christmas when Paul visits David in Petersfield.
At the end of 2010 David contributed spoken words to a song for a new project Paul conceived during a summer wandering around a renowned North American city. It became the centrepiece of the first Free Swim EP, 'Two Hands is OK'. Free Swim differed musically from Paul's previous offerings in that he made it all up as he went along and had a bloody good time doing it.
Six 'what's the big rush?' years later, Paul and David are delighted to present the first Free Swim album, 'Lifetime of Treats'. Their goal at the start was simple - to create the heartiest, most 'rip-roaring' long-player they could, worthy of their very own album club!
