Fever Dream (Out on Sep 30), the new single by Sydney outfit Froggy Prinze is both a loving homage to the Beatles, circa 1966, and a reaction to the strange 'unprecedented' happenings of 2020. It's about waking to find everything that felt stable and sure has been vapourised overnight, and trying to wrap your head around a new day that seems so different to the one before.
The band have used the Covid downtime to get three new songs recorded in time for release during Spring (in Australia) to help add some cheer to what’s been a shitty year for many.
Working with engineer/producer Marc Scully at Studio 57 Recording in Sydney, the band experimented with recording practices on Fever Dream to give the track that raw 60s garage feel it deserved.
With their debut 5 track EP “Is this supposed to be happening?” released in April 2019, Froggy Prinze have enjoyed community radio play (2SER, Triple R, AMRAP AMCOS), critical acclaim with comparisons to their musical heroes The Go-Betweens, and played some memorable shows around the gritty inner-west of Sydney. To cap off of a massive 2019, Froggy Prinze played the Australian Music Week Conference at Cronulla, Sydney.
