Luis Raúl Marrero, known professionally as Funky, is a 2-time Latin Grammy nominated rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. Marrero was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico and raised in the Barrio Palmarejo of Corozal, Puerto Rico.
Funky began his career as a music producer, working alongside Vico C for the album "Aquel Que Había Muerto", which was awarded Rap Album of the Year at the 1999 Latin Billboard Awards. Three years later, His first Solo Album, “Funkytown”, was nominated for a Latin Grammy in the Christian Album of the Year Category. (2002)
With a career of more than 20 years, Funky is still considered one of the forerunners of the Christian Reggaeton/Hip Hop Genre.
