Gabo Blondel (guitarist and music arranger, from La Paz, Bolivia) and Sabine Escuro (vocalist and lyricist, from Bogotá, Colombia) is a Los Angeles–based experimental Latin duo. Their music lives between worlds, blending flamenco, fado, bolero, hip hop, and Latin ballads into a sound that’s intimate, atmospheric, and fiercely original. Singing exclusively in Spanish, they create bold and emotionally raw songs that speak to displacement, memory, protest, and existential longing.
The duo met in Minnesota while attending music school and initially formed a band called Mestifonía, alongside a cellist and percussionist. That project found early success, opening for Che Apalache, performing with the Minnesota Orchestra, and touring throughout the Midwest. But as life became more complex—especially under the weight of immigrant struggles in the U.S.—the group fractured. After parting ways, Gabo and Sabine spent four years apart, each navigating personal challenges and artistic doubt. But music kept calling them back, and so did each other.
Their reunion gave birth to Gabo & Sabine, a project rooted in the same commitment to experimentation but with a sharper voice and deeper emotional core. Their debut single, “Pétalos Negros,” captures their essence: moody, intricate guitar work paired with vocals that balance vulnerability and power. The lyrics meditate on themes like inner conflict, longing for a lost home, and the contradictions of love in a fractured world.
