Multi-Instrumentalist, producer, and self proclaimed "sonic astronaut," Gage Winthrop is an Experimental Electronic musician hailing from Los Angeles, CA. With a background in jazz and symphonic music, he started out writing music in high school, and went on to record his compositions in 2017, after studying Jazz Bass at University of Miami for a year.
His first full-length studio record, “Recall,” was released in August of 2017. A concept album, the songs are based upon fragments of childhood memories. He would gather field recordings while he was back at home and incorporate them specifically into songs that were composed for the remembering of places- other familiar sounds were gathered from home such as hums from electronics or old home videos.
"To Be Awoken," is a variety album of sorts. The genre or style changes quite a bit but the heart of the sound is still very me, I think. It's my favorite project of mine to date."
“There were a pretty decent amount of Tracks left over after I had chosen which songs I wanted for ‘Recall’, something like 32 or 33 different projects.. I can't remember exactly how many but I DO remember feeling a little overwhelmed with all of the content. I took one bite at a time, and ended up with “Deserters Loops and Abandoned Tracks (2016-2017)." It became a sister album of sorts to Recall to me."
NEW ALBUM COMING CHRISTMAS EVE!!
“Source, Memory, Imagination”
