Gail Ann Dorsey is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a unique and impressive career. Widely known as one of music’s most influential and highly acclaimed bass players, Gail Ann is equally revered for her outstanding vocal talent, contributing her dynamic voice and multi-instrumental skills to projects from the industry’s top recording artists, as well as her own solo recordings and live performances.
One of her most notable pairings is her show-stopping duet with music legend David Bowie on the Queen/Bowie classic “Under Pressure”. Dorsey occupied the bass /vocalist chair in Bowie’s touring bands from 1995 to 2004, also contributing to the albums ‘Earthling’, ‘Reality’ and ‘The Next Day’’ as well as the posthumous releases of studio recordings ‘Toy’, box set ‘Brilliant Adventure' (1992-2001) and live ‘Glastonbury 2000’.
In addition to her tenure with Bowie, Gail Ann has recorded and toured with an impressive array of artists: from folksinger Dar Williams to Seal, songstress Joan Osborne to pop icon Gwen Stefani, post punk pioneers Gang of Four to Tears for Fears to Lenny Kravitz and many more. She is currently a featured vocalist in the Blackstar Symphony, with bandleader Donny McCaslin.
Dorsey has previously released three solo albums; ‘The Corporate World,’ ‘Rude Blue’, and ‘I Used to Be." She is once again focusing her talents on her own music, writing and recording for a new, much anticipated solo release and along with a return to the solo stage.
