From their roots as a family band, Galactagogues have refined their singular sound, sometimes called Funkafolkadelic, and released their debut album to a sold out audience in their home town of Prescott, Arizona. Grounded in Meg’s songwriting and Cosimo’s musical eloquence, with lyrics and melodies that are both ancient and immediate, the band takes listeners on a full human journey - blending introspective poetry with irresistible grooves.
A Galactagogues show is 99% original music, with just a dash of traditional tunes from around the world - the music both raw and refined. The band has been playing to steadily growing audiences since 2019, with a covert mission to awaken and agitate.
Meg, Cosimo and Opal Bohrman, along with Zach Dominguez, form the core of Galactagogues, with True Bohrman as a seasonal member, and other talented instrumentalists sprinkled in. Thatcher Bohrman creates all the original artwork, videos and media for the Band, adding more unique flavor to the delicious family recipe.
Galactagogues’ roots are firmly planted in Family, Community, Activism, and Healing. As a Music Therapist, Meg understands the precious power of music to weave the fabric of the world back together.
The word ‘Galactagogue’ means ‘an element that helps a nursing mother produce more abundant and nutritious milk’ (from Greek: gala, galaktos, milk, lactation, Galaxy).
