Born into a musical family (his father and uncle produced and published works including Stay and Doubleshot of My Baby's Love, as well as the album Snoopy v. The Red Baron), Gary McCullough has been a songwriter for many years. Having historically written songs with the intention of others performing them, Gary eventually turned to writing the music he wanted to write and liked it enough to take it to Landslide Studio in Asheville, NC. That first album, Hard Climb, was released in early 2022. He has since recorded a second album (in production) and is releasing singles regularly. His musical influences are broad and include insightful singer-songwriters from Jackson Browne and James Taylor to Jason Isbell and John Moreland, as well as southern country/rock bands like the Drive by Truckers and Lucero. Born in Raleigh, NC and reared all over the southeast--the formative years in Athens, GA-- he now lives in Boone, NC.
