The journey commenced when 3 junior high school kids gathered with a silly little mission of being reposted on Instagram by the leading music community, @indomusikgram. Did the mission succeed? Unfortunately, covering just “Siti Ropeah" wasn't enough. However, 3 became 5, 5 became 6, and they ended up with 7: consisting of Aping (vocal), Beth (vocal), Amanda (keys), Goldie (guitar), Gwenna (guitar), Kayla (drums), and Sari (bass). What started off as a small group of people with overlapping interests evolved into a real band that has competed and performed together on numerous events.
Gataum. recently released their debut single, Gaung, which became an official theme song for their current school’s annual event reaching over 5,000 streams in its first month. Inspired by musicians such as .Feast, Barasuara, and Kotak, they aim to showcase a spontaneous yet distinct songwriting approach in the pop-rock roots. Having fun is a must for every song they present on stage and basically, how they do everything. Even the name “Gataum.” originated from a random typo. In a nutshell, Gataum. is a celebration of all the voices and dreams for the world that they live in now.
