Gede Robi is the vocalist, guitarist, and the frontman of the internationally award-winning rock band Navicula, combining activism and music as tools for social change. Formed in 1996 in Bali, they have released 11 full-length studio albums.
Robi was the main subject of the environmental documentary series and feature film “Pulau Plastik” which released in Indonesian cinemas in 2021, and was picked up for International distribution on Netflix in 2022, under the title “Plastic Island”.
In 2023 Robi, along with 15 Indonesian musicians, established the Indonesian chapter of Music Declares Emergency (MDE) – an environmental pressure group which aims to raise awareness about climate change through the influence of the music Industry. Under the slogan “No Music On A Dead Planet”, they have released a series environmental songs with musicians and bands from across the country,
He is also a certified Permaculture designer and teaches organic farming in Indonesia and around Southeast Asia. He lives in Ubud, Bali.
