Toronto born artist Geek Van Der Beek grew up in the suburbs of Orangeville, Ontario. Every Sunday his family would travel an hour to the west-end of Toronto to attend church. It was in church that Geek Van Der Beek discovered his passion for music.
After the passing of his mother at the age of nine, Geek found solace in the music of legendary artists like Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder and Al Green. Appreciating the “depth” in their music, Geek began to learn the importance of lyrics and song writing. As he got older Geek gravitated towards artists like Jay-Z, Kanye West and Pharrell Williams, which inspired him to write his own songs.
