Geir Bertheussen Blues Express was a Norwegian bluesband from the northern parts of Norway. The band was nominated to Spellemann 2018 for their last album "Southside" in the Blues Category. Geir Bertheussen Blues Express also represented Norway in the European Blues Challenge (EBC) 2019, at the Azores in April where they achieved 2 nd place. Kyla Brox (UK) got the 1 st place.
The band featured Geir «Milkman» Bertheussen on vocals and harmonica, Kai «Sugar K» Fjellberg on guitars and vocals, Trond «Boogieman» Hansen on bass and Kåre «Lefty» Amundsen on drums. Geir Bertheussen Blues Express was constantly touring all over Norway. The band started out as a chicago blues inspired band, but as years went by, their sound changed into its own thing. They wrote their own songs, and performed only a few covers. In 2014 the band recorded a live album at the Juke Joint Chapel at the Shack Up Inn just outside Clarksdale. Just like @Charlie Musselwhite did a few years back. The inspiration to pull this off, just hit Bertheussen a year before this recording, when he visited Chicago and the delta. During that visit, he got to meet Billy Branch as well as Buddy Guy himself. Also he got to know, and play with Brandon Santini and many other. The whole vibe of Chicago and the delta got him, so he had to go back with his band the year after.
Due to sudden incidents, Blues Express parted with Geir Bertheussen, following their own path, as The Blues Express. They just released a new single.
