Gencay Kıymaz was born in December 16, 1987 in Ayvalık. His interest in music started at the age of 9. When he was 11, he began playing darbuka which is a traditional drum (played by beating it with one's hands). Also he started playing guitar at the same time. In 2001, he began playing drum. Then, he started playing with many musicians with local bands at his hometown. He performed with high school bands, various pop-singers and different musicians, including pop-rock forms and traditional Turkish music styles, with their night club and concert performances. He had a chance to increase his playing with this works. In 2006, he joined I.T.U Mining Engineering department and he moved to Istanbul.
After moving, he started to play some pop-funk-rock and jazzy bands and he performed many night clubs and concerts with them . And he is tracking different genres of music in the studio sessions.
