General Ling

After representing Singapore to the World Beatboxing Championships in Berlin, former soldier turned artist Elaine Lim, took her artistic and intuitive competencies one step further to explore musicality that transcends her creative space through the art of beatboxing. Since then, she began frantically scribbling lyrics onto papers, expressing struggle, bullying, perseverance and the drive to succeed - topics that she and her peers encountered in everyday life and consequently, the persona of General Ling was born.

In a write-up by Singapore Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, she was recognized as one of the local female leaders that paved the way for embracing equity.

To date, she has performed at various local and international stages including Urban Design Festival, ISCOS (the Industrial & Services Co-Operative Society) Charity Gala, Sonic Music Festival and Singapore Night Festival; as well as Goa Sunsplash Festival (India), New Wave Festival (Taiwan), Ruby Room (Japan) and AmplifyHER by UN Women and Canada Consulate. Prominent brands that she has established connections with include National Arts Council, Resort World Cruises, Johnson and Johnson, Nubox, Hirose and *SCAPE, to name a few.
