Singer and guitarist Genie Webster was born in Cleveland, OH. Once she reached adulthood, and was ready to break out on her own, she picked up and moved in 1995, landing in Reno, NV. Those first months were tough, but Webster refused to give up her dreams. She earned money by performing on the side of the downtown streets, collecting enough tips to make it day by day. She named her street show appropriately, Stranded in Reno. Soon she managed to begin, landing a few gigs in local coffeehouses and clubs, and the road ahead seemed to go from overcast and rocky, to only cloudy and well worn. In 1996 an ad in a local newspaper changed things even more for Webster, and gave her a better lifeline to hold on to; another singer was looking for a partner to perform with in nightclubs and casinos. Webster tried out, and made it. The female duo stayed together for two years, before she switched to other groups. In 1999, Webster completed her first album, Walk the Dream. The debut carries ten tracks, including "When I Remember You," "Just Go Away," "Deep Invitation," and "Prayer at the River." ~ Charlotte Dillon
