George Fisher is a Composer from the Twin Cities who writes across a variety of genres, blending classic and modern styles. George is a senior at Maple Grove High School and is dual-enrolled at the University of Minnesota, where he is involved in several groups, including the clarinet studio, gospel choir, and West African Music Ensemble. George’s piece, Strength!, was performed at the 2025 University of Minnesota Spring Gospel Choir concert, and his new work for clarinet quintet will be played this spring at the 2026 University of Minnesota Clarinet Studio Concert.
Several of George’s large-scale and award-winning pieces include Evening Glory, for concert band, and Beyond the Meadows, for orchestra and choir. George has won several awards for his compositions, including 1st place in the Minnesota Music Teachers State Competition and a top-ten ranking in the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Composers Contest.
Outside of music, George has a great passion for teaching and guiding the youth. George is a volunteer strategy board game teacher for children ages 9-17 and works primarily with 10-year-olds as a YMCA camp counselor. George aspires to use his skills as a musician and teacher to one day become a professor in composition, helping guide the next generation of young, talented musicians.
