George Fisher

George Fisher is a rising composer from the Twin Cities area. Now 17, he started composing at the age of 12 and released his first album two years later. George’s most recent works include his latest release, Cosmic Brilliance, an immersive experience meant to take listeners through the cycle from one night to the next. The climax of this album includes Evening Glory, a piece written for concert band, which placed in the top 10 of the NFMC national composition contest.

In addition to composition, George’s musical career extends to a variety of instruments, including clarinet, saxophone, and piano. George is a student at Maple Grove Senior High, as well as a part-time student at the University of Minnesota, where he is a member of the UMN Gospel Choir and the West African Music Ensemble.

Outside of composing and the many groups he is involved in, George is a cross-country runner and downhill skier. He enjoys contributing to his community by playing clarinet at local memory care facilities and is a counselor in several summer programs, including Camp Olson YMCA and a local strategy board gaming camp at Minneapolis's West Suburban Summer School.
