Born in Germany, Townsend spent his early adolescence as a busker, playing drums with his South African saxophonist father. His instruments are handpan and drums. Being the organizer of the biggest German handpan festival in Berlin(http://www.handpanfestival.de), Townsend is well known within the handpan community. Having taken to the handpan just over three years ago, he draws his influence from his musical background as drummer in several projects (Jazz, Rock, Latin, Hiphop, Triphop, Balkan) over the course of 23 years. The handpans of his choice are Blesspan, Vibe Handpan and Sunpan.
