Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1966, he was the son of Eddie Levert, lead singer of The O’Jays, and inherited a rich musical legacy. Gerald rose to fame in the 1980s as a member of LeVert, an R&B trio formed with his brother Sean and childhood friend Marc Gordon. The group delivered hits like "Casanova" and "Baby I'm Ready," blending smooth harmonies with infectious grooves.

In the early '90s, Gerald embarked on a successful solo career, releasing classic albums such as Private Line, Love & Consequences, and The G Spot, featuring chart-topping songs like "I'd Give Anything" and "Taking Everything."
