Singer/songwriter Gert Steinbäcker was born on November 27, 1952 in Graz, Austria. Before embarking on his solo career, Steinbäcker was a member of Austropop, a trio that also included Günter Timischl and Helmut "Schiffkowitz" Röhrling. His solo albums, beginning with Einmal im Leb'n in 1990, have been on the Austrian singles and album charts. In 2012 he received the prestigious Goldene Ehrenzeichen für Verdienste um die Republik Österreich (Golden Badge of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria) award. ~ Al Campbell, Rovi
