"‘Northern Star’ represents a profound reckoning with mortality...with its intricate production, heartfelt lyrics, and the creative synergy between Deane and Lawrence, the song encapsulates a spirit of resilience and hope." TuneFountain
"...a hallmark of modern music design, the album flutters on the fringes of genres, never revealing its true identity in one song...strange, personal and brilliant." TJPL News, Geek Tragedy
ghosts and leviathans is the musical project of Matthew Deane, an Irish raised, London based producer/songwriter/pianist. His music explores a vast range of genres, from noisy, abrasive joyous electronic anthems, to more introspective, dreamy nostalgic compositions, each song taking fragments of influence from traditional Irish music, classical music, noise pop and hyperpop. He explores anxieties, dreams and ideas of love, friendship and grief through a twenty first century lens, disorting memories and thoughts into contemplative, abstract musical worlds. Having lived in London for 5 years, he has released 3 albums, performed at iconic indie venues all over the city and beyond, and in his homeland of Ireland, and collaborated with artists such as NIVMH and Izzii Grace. He hosts a monthly radio show "Loudr Live" on Future Hits, celebrating independent music and gigs, and hosts "ghosts and leviathans + friends", a music event at the Loveshack in East London, championing LGBTQ+, neurodivergent and international electronic music artists.
