Gibeon, born in Lagos (Nigeria), is an is an enigmatic artist and emerging producer bringing an original, emotional, and global vision to the Afrobeats scene. His style, defined by melodic and organic nuances, builds on traditional Afro sounds, which he elevates with electronic elements and a contemporary pop sensibility.
Now based in London, his sound has been enriched by the city’s cultural diversity, giving him a broad and cosmopolitan perspective. His work fuses roots and future, drawing inspiration from legends like Fela Kuti, contemporary icons such as Burna Boy and Rema, combined with the global energy of Major Lazer or the urban aesthetic of Drake. This blend of influences positions him as a unique creator capable of building bridges between cultures, styles, and generations.
Why is he called Gibeon?
Gibeon is the name of a meteorite. The Gibeon meteorite fell in Namibia thousands of years ago and is mainly composed of iron and nickel. It is famous for its crystalline patterns known as Widmanstätten figures, which become visible when treated with acid. These unique patterns—impossible to replicate on Earth—make it highly prized in jewelry and collecting. Local tribes were already using it long before its European discovery in the 19th century.
