Gina Ferrera started her life on the East Coast of the United States, traveled the world, and now resides in Southern California. She started her career as a touring musician, a teacher, and a producer. She is a seasoned musician, playing drums and percussion for over 30 years. She has been a student of many styles of music including: Afro-Cuban, Western, and West African. She studied the gyil and mbira in the United States and West Africa from traditional and professional players alike. Her style blends ancient musical systems and traditional instruments with modern electronic production and instrumentation.
