Upright bass player, composer and producer Lennart Ginman is among Denmark's most revered
and respected musicians. He has appeared on more than 140 album releases and received
numerous critical reviews and prestigious awards – among them Danish Music Awards and a grant
from Statens Kunstfond.
His impressive resumé includes exquisite collaborations with defining artists ranging from
international jazz icons to Danish indie stars. With an expansive outlook and an ever curious and
adventurous mind, Ginman has left his mark on jazz, electronica, rock and progressive techno.
Lately, the electronic music has particularly been the focus of Ginman and with heavy use of
processed upright bass, drum machines, filters, Ableton Live and various effect pedals, exciting
new sounds and melodies has been brought to life at the concerts 'GINMAN drømmestøj'
(translated: GINMAN dream noise) and on the single 'In the Hearts of Men' (2020).
The exploration of electronic spheres in blue notes is also beautifully present in the very convincing
triphop-inspired collaborations with Faraose singer Eivør on the album 'The Color of Dark' (2014)
and in the experimental ensemble The H0pening in collaboration with Maggie Björklund and Jeppe
Gram on the album 'Out of Bristol' (2019).
With a self-assured sense of creating atmospheres, GINMAN explores contemporary songwriting
in the junction between electronic and acoustic textures, and this creates deeply personal, moving,
dark, moody and cinematic music.
