Given Da Chief has a trance-inducing melodic delivery that enhances his already sharp storytelling prowess. His offerings are sacred Venda folklore. He employs comical euphemisms to touch on dark, unsettling philosophies, weaving tales of love, resilience, and personal triumph.
He was born 'Mutheiwana Given Nganeyavhutshilo' and bred in Hatshifura, Thohoyandou. The enchanting power of music allows him to tap into the collective energy that resonates throughout the cosmos, fostering a deep spiritual connection with God. With each composition, Given endeavours to bridge the gap between the earthly and divine, inviting his audience on a transcendent journey of self-discovery.
Driven by his passion to explore and express himself, Given evolved into a genre-fluid Hip Hop artist. Blending the influences of New Age Trap and Gritty Rap.
In an exciting milestone, Given released his highly anticipated debut single titled 'Goni.' Collaborating with acclaimed artists Una Rams, Gusba Banana, and J-Smash. 'Goni' has garnered immense success critically, on streaming platforms and on the streets on account of its infectious melodies and anthemic lyrics.
To follow up 'Goni', Given released 'Tshivhoni', which translates to "Mirror." In the song, Given is forced to stand before his own image. To see himself as he is but also to see the world around him.
